Carolette King, LCSW .JPG

Carolette K, LCSW

Hi, my name is Carolette King. I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I began my career with CASA, as an advocate for children in the foster care system. My love for helping vulnerable populations led me to pursue a career with DaVita, where I have provided counseling, and case management to chronically ill clients since 2017. Come talk to me, I am here to help. Together we will work on strategies that allow you to explore your foundations, current experiences, and potential, while learning coping techniques to use when you need them the most. Healing is a shared effort that requires genuine caring without judgment, and I supportively assist my clients in defining their goals for treatment. Rather than adopting one approach for all individuals and issues, I draw from a variety of methods to create a tailored treatment plan for each client. I understand that patients from diverse cultures may communicate distress differently, so I strive to maintain multicultural competence in treatment. Because Black and Brown clients often face racial and ethnic disparities in mental health care, I specialize in issues that impact these communities. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings and with diverse clients, including both long-term and brief interventions. I have experience counseling clients who struggle with:
Anxiety and Depression, Mental and emotional impact of Racial Disparities, Grief and Loss, Chronic pain or illness, Substance Abuse. My treatment style is warm, open, encouraging, and direct. I consider myself an active therapist, combining experience, education, creativity, and a sense of humor with a down-to-earth, approach to counseling to build a relationship of trust and respect with all my clients.

Michael S, PMHNP

My name is Michael Solano, I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My journey started, working on the floor, as a mental health worker in an inpatient psychiatric unit. During this time, I learned about dual diagnosis, and to better help my patients, I enrolled in school and eventually graduated from East Los Angeles College as a chemical dependency counselor. The following year I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University, Los Angeles and continued to work in substance abuse and mental health for a couple of years.
After working in detox and various psychiatric settings, I realized that I could do more for my patients if I could dispense medications, so I decided to go back to school and eventually graduated as a licensed psychiatric technician from Mountain San Antonio College. After working as a psych tech for a couple of years, once again, I felt limited in what I could do for my patients, so I went back to school and graduated as a registered nurse from Rio Hondo College. As an RN, I was able to do a lot for my patients, but I knew that I wanted to do more for them, so I continued my education and eventually earned my master’s degree in nursing from Grand Canyon University. After earning my MSN degree, I worked in management for a couple of years, but I quickly learned that it was not what I wanted to do because it took me away from direct patient care. I stepped down from the administrative role, went back to school, and graduated as a Nurse Practitioner from Azusa Pacific University.

Dr. Thomas, LMFT

My name is Dr. Alysha Thomas and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California with over 5 years of experience. I have experience working with clients from a variety of cultural, racial, sexual, and societal backgrounds who have experienced a wide range of challenging issues and concerns. I identify as a Black woman therapist and value growth, diversity, individuality, and genuineness.
Recognizing that change is a natural part of life, in which we grow and adapt to varying environments--personal, relational, and developmental, it’s alright to admit that sometimes we need help managing. During these challenges, we may find ourselves unable to minimize negative outcomes and generate new solutions. My approach will provide you with support, respect, honesty, understanding, and an outlet to collaborate on developing solutions. Mental health is a key component to your overall wellness and should be cared for with compassion and intentionality. My long-term goal as a therapist is to broaden conversations around the importance of mental health, to the same standard as physical health. Particularly in communities of color, my hope is to continuously destigmatize mental health and normalize a helping hand as needed. I believe that with the right amount of support, guidance, and compassion, our capabilities are endless. It would be my pleasure to accompany you on your healing journey.
